Westford Toastmasters Club

Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. The organization has more than 352,000 memberships. Members improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 16,400 clubs in 141 countries.

The art of communication is directly correlated to leadership, as leadership is just not the act of doing things rightly, it is also about communicating it to an audience who can understand your thoughts views, opinions and ideas.

Hence, we have the Westford Toastmasters Club (WTC), a club whose sole mission is to enhance and develop speech writing, public speaking and communicating to an audience with confidence and clarity.

At Westford Toastmasters Club, we lay the foundation for the students to be great communicators and to have intellectual conversations. We aim to achieve these goals through the Toastmasters Pathways learning experience, an exciting, flexible and interactive way to develop ones skills in the ten important areas such as ; Dynamic Leadership, Effective Coaching, Innovative Planning , Leadership Development , Motivational Strategies , Persuasive Influence, Presentation Mastery , Strategic Relationships, Team Collaboration and Visionary Communication. On completion of each pathways, the members are awarded ‘The Certificate of Proficient’ in each area.

The world need leaders! Leaders head families, coach teams, run businesses and mentor others. These leaders must not only accomplish, they must communicate. Every Toastmaster’s journey begins with a single speech. During their journey, they learn to tell their stories. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback and accept it. Through our community of learners, they find their path to leadership.

Westford Toastmasters Club holds its meeting once a week for a duration of 2 hours in the ITEC Campus. The club leadership team is completely managed by the students who are selected based on a voting system as per the Toastmasters International HQ.

Members of the Westford Toastmasters Club, including myself have an excellent time attending Toastmaster meetings. I remember during the early stages of the Toastmasters club, I used to hesitate to speak on stage, but today I and my club members enjoy speaking at club meetings with a lot of enthusiasm.

WTC is helping me in both personal as well as professional life; it’s giving me the courage to speak my mind in front of others without hesitation. It has helped me in overcoming one of my biggest fear .i.e. stage fright. I always had a general lack of confidence throughout, but Westford Toastmasters Club has helped overcome most of these problems.

Good communication skills are regarded as a much sought-after trait these days in order to excel in the corporate world. The ‘Table Topic’ speeches were really helpful as they made me think on my feet and sharpened my response mechanisms to offer informed opinions & views within minutes when talking on any subject. Toastmaster’s practical interactions have prepared me for a rewarding corporate life.

I remember during the early stages of the Toastmasters club, I used to hesitate to speak on stage, but today I and my club members enjoy speaking at club meetings with a lot of enthusiasm.I saw it as an opportunity to learn to maybe finally have a conversation without being awkward or just have fun without thinking too much. I am not saying that after joining toastmasters club I am more confident than ever or that I overcame all my fears of being in front of an audience or finally learnt not to be awkward. But in Toastmaster’s club I learnt that sometimes you just need to have faith in yourself, believe in yourself and learn to have fun in anything and everything you do because if you don’t then who will?
