About the University

The Liverpool Mechanics Institute was founded by people of power and influence who recognized the transformative effects of education and the impact that learning and aspiration could have on individuals, communities, and society. This small, pioneering movement was followed by the establishment of the Liverpool Institute and School of Art and the Liverpool Nautical College, and in 1900 Irene Mabel Marsh opened the IM Marsh campus. These organizations together laid the foundations for Liverpool John Moores University, an institution that has grown and flourished and continues to provide opportunities for all. Liverpool John Moores University, also known as LJMU is formally affiliated with the Northern Consortium, the University Alliance, and the European University Association.

Today with a vibrant community of 25000 students from over 100 countries worldwide, 2500 staff and 250 degree courses, LJMU is one of the largest, most dynamic and forward-thinking universities in the United Kingdom. Although a civic university in the city of Liverpool, it has a global approach, forging international partnerships to facilitate world-leading research and collaboration.     It has been a wonderful experience studying at Westford University College for my Top up with LJMU. Westford not only offered a quality education, but it also provided a place of friendliness and warmth, it helped us increase our network with students and faculties from diverse backgrounds. The faculties at Westford are very keen in enriching our knowledge in different fields of studies. The campus of Westford is incredibly positive in terms of the environment, once a student enters the doors of Westford, not only is the student entitled to enjoy study modules, but a variety of activities and clubs. Westford is an excellent choice to study and have fun, which I believe are the two main components to live a good and healthy University life.

    The thing about the Westford University College of Business School was that it gave me the impression that I had a second family. We all had good and bad days, so I will not pretend that my experience was exceptional or perfect; rather, I will say that having a supportive community—whether it be made up of faculty or fellow students—made things easier. We were constantly given the chance to become independent lifelong learners while we were undergraduates. The curriculum of the program, which is designed to push students to go beyond their best, is its shining star. I’ll always be appreciative of the welcoming campus community. Overall, I’ve had an unimaginable experience.

    Universities are not usually a welcoming atmosphere for newcomers, neither is it a pleasant experience; however, this is not the case with Westford; although it is a new environment with new people, it seems like a comfort zone.   Joining Westford was a fantastic opportunity to meet new individuals from all backgrounds.     My university experience has been terrific. I’ve learned and experienced so much in such a short time, and it’s all gone by so quickly. I’m still learning about all of the opportunities that university has to offer. Westford is a pleasant community, and I felt quite at home from the beginning. I’ve made a lot of new acquaintances from all walks of life and cultures. I am extremely happy with my friends, as well as with the administration and instructors at the institution.
