About Higher National Diploma in Art and Design (Fashion)

    Program Highlights

The Higher National Diploma in Art and Design (Fashion) at Westford, in collaboration with Pearson, UK, is intended for students who want to pursue a professional career in Art and Design. The curriculum offers three distinct career paths: Interior Design, Fashion Design, and Textiles. The program’s goal is to assist students in developing creative, imaginative, and evaluative skills that can be applied in real-world settings.

The HND in Art and Design will enable students to understand the local, regional, and international context of the creative industries. They will be able to effectively convey their ideas verbally, visually, and through presentations, as well as use a wide range of creative theories and methods in the field of fashion.

The program provides learners with an understanding of the numerous roles and responsibilities in the fashion business, as well as the principles of several functional sectors of the industry. Learners will get an understanding of how technology and innovation are reshaping creativity in the sector and will be prepared to work with these technologies. Learners will also build a capacity for right-brain thinking and realize its importance in the creative business and beyond.

This specialization in Fashion Design aims to support students in gaining further understanding of the fashion design process and developing their approach. By producing a capsule collection of fashion garments, synthesizing research and design into working drawings, toiles and outcomes, students will follow the full cycle of fashion design and production.

The HND in Arts and Design is delivered across 14 modules and is meant to explore the creative capacity of learners through a focused curriculum that prepares them for future degree-level studies and/or industry work. The curriculum promotes experiential learning through group projects, practical assignments, and class partnerships to better mirror the real-world workplace. We replicate scenarios and increase engagement through a combination of study and practical training. This ensures that learners are always learning and honing their skills.
