About Diploma in Fashion Illustration
The Diploma in Fashion Illustration at Westford, offered in collaboration with the Guglielmo Marconi University in Italy, seeks to educate learners about the history of fashion illustration while also introducing and imparting basic fashion illustration expertise. It attempts to provide learners with the essential skills to meet industry expectations. It will aid students in the use of industrial illustration tools and methods. Students will gain knowledge of hand-rendered and computer-aided artwork. It will also assist in developing a grasp of the anatomy of the human and fashion figure, as well as studying the fundamental concepts of model drawing. The curriculum is designed for those who are new to the area of fashion illustration and have little or no prior experience or educational background.

Modules
The module aims to develop learners’ basic understanding of human anatomy and introduce them to the basic principles of fashion model drawing. Learners will sketch block figures, flesh figures, and croquis.

- Draw and sketch block figures, & flesh figures in different poses.
- Develop a portfolio of an independently developed body of work
The module aims to introduce learners to the fundamentals of fashion illustration to develop an essential understanding of modes of visual communication within a fashion context. Learners will examine freehand modes of drawing and illustration using multiple mediums.
Learning Outcomes- Evaluate and apply the theories and techniques used in developing new illustration skills in the fashion and design industry that utilize originality and self-direction
- Communicate and share clearly and effectively design concepts and an independently developed body of work
- Develop an original aesthetic sensibility to illustration and visual presentation
This module aims to provide learners with opportunities to develop their understanding and knowledge of CAD software applications used in the illustration industry, and the practical skills to utilize the technology within their creative work.
Learning Outcomes- Use CAD software to produce visualizations and technical drawings
- Present clearly and effectively an independently developed body of work.
- Present drawings and renderings, for a given project, produced using illustration software
