      The Doctor of Business Administration is structured in two stages

      Stage one: MSc Research Methods in Business Management

      The MSc in Research Methods in Business Management is designed to give students in-depth professional, practical and technical research skills and an understanding of the research process, preparing students for a career in academia or in non-academic research-literate occupations in business.

      Additionally, The Business Management pathway in the MSc Research Methods involves intensive training in research methods under the guidance of academic staff. learners will acquire the skills and confidence necessary to independently conduct business or management-related research. This stage will enable learners to develop a deep understanding of contemporary challenges and opportunities within organizations. Additionally, it will foster critical thinking abilities, allowing them to evaluate various research approaches and perspectives effectively. Career development is further supported through tailored professional research skills and training, addressing individual needs and enhancing their readiness for impactful contributions to business and management research. 

      This stage consists of six modules spanning over 12 months, including a research proposal that must be submitted before the commencement of Stage 2. 

      • Critically review a specific contemporary issue and establish its impact on business management practice.
      • Analyse and evaluate the social and organisational dynamics that influence the strategic approaches to business management.
      • Provide recommendations for future research and practice relevant to a specific issue in business management.
      • Learn appropriate techniques to collect primary and secondary data.
      • Process and visualise data in Excel, produce calculations apply function commands and create and interpret pivot tables.
      • Evaluate analytical approaches and techniques.
      • Apply specialist software skills for the analysis of quantitative methods preparing data and running descriptive analyses and inferential tests with autonomy.
      • Apply and understand qualitative analysis and mixed methods approaches.
      • Communicate professional level of core knowledge in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
      • Synthesise knowledge of research method approaches in your research area and critically reflect on your own methodological development needs, to lead the formulation of a plan to acquire the requisite advanced research skills.
      • Identify, conceptualise and define aims and research questions.
      • Evaluate external data sources to determine suitability for own analysis.
      • Apply advanced skills in quantitative or qualitative analysis dealing with complex data.
      • Effectively interpret and communicate key findings from advanced analyses, to both academic and lay.

      • Appraise a variety of pathways to impact involving multiple stakeholders, showing awareness of current issues in the field and the need to use different forms of effective engagement for different audiences and potential beneficiaries.
      • Critically evaluate and measure research impact, showing professional judgement and understanding of appropriate tools and metrics within their specialist area.
      • Consider real-world complexity to identify potential pathways to impact from their research ideas, demonstrating creativity, judgement and understanding in maximising impact opportunities.

      The Research Proposal & Literature Review module guides learners in crafting scholarly investigations. It emphasizes formulating clear research aims, reviewing pertinent literature, and constructing a robust theoretical framework. Through structured steps, learners develop essential skills in academic inquiry and critical analysis.

      Stage Two: Research Stage

      Stage Two of the DBA program centres on conducting comprehensive primary research under mentor supervision. Spanning two years, this stage is dedicated to crafting a detailed thesis that meets the rigorous research standards expected at the doctoral level.
