The program is structured into three modules. Upon completion, learners will earn up to 24 ECTS credits.
Modules
The module aims to prepare learners intellectually and practically for effective workplace performance. It assists them in developing a clear understanding of management and business processes including the interrelationships between an organizations core functional areas across supply chain and logistics management. Learners will gain knowledge of inventory management, freight forwarding systems, inbound and outbound logistics systems, distribution channels and the legal aspects of goods management. They will also understand the fundamentals of warehousing and storage systems, material handling and packaging, and transportation management.
Upon completion of the module, learners will be able to:
- Understand the relationship between supply chain and logistics management and its linkage to organizational business strategies.
- Be able to use information technology to optimize supplier relationships in an organization.
- Understand the role of logistics and procurement, including the buyer/ supplier relationship in the Supply Chain industry.
- Understand the basics of shipping operations, including the documentation involved.
This module aims to examine the impact of key aspects that are driving the globalisation of industries and markets with special reference to the structures and management of global and international supply chain networks and logistics systems. The focus will be on supply chain and logistics planning strategies for companies that operate globally with an emphasis on how to plan and integrate its functional components into a well-coordinated system. Learners are exposed to concepts and models important in supply chain inventory, warehousing and freight forwarding management concepts with emphasis on key trade-offs and phenomena.
Upon completion of the module, learners will be able to:
- Understand cross-functional drivers of the supply chain in a globally competitive context.
- Understand multi-model logistics systems, shipping strategies, stockholding, inventory, and warehousing management in a global context.
- Understand supply chain management system models and techniques like Supply Chain Operations Reference- SCOR and Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment CPFR.
- Analyse financial agreements within supply chain management systems and the issues surrounding tariffs, taxes, and payment methods in supply chain networks.
This module provides a comprehensive understanding of procurement processes and contract management in a commercial environment. It explores how procurement adds value to business operations and supply chain management (SCM), while focusing on developing effective procurement strategies and improving relationships with contractors and suppliers. Participants will also examine contract processes and the role of contracts in ensuring business security and value creation.
Upon completion of the module, learners will be able to:
- Fundamental concept & effectiveness of procurement process in a commercial environment.
- Understand the value addition of Procurement to business, SCM.
- Development of procurement strategies, and improved working relationships with contractors & suppliers.
- Understand the Process of contracts.
- Role of contracts in adding value and security to the business.
