About Diploma in Film and Media
The Diploma program seeks to integrate the study of media institutions, cultural practices, and the communication process. Its goal is to focus on theoretical and critical research, as well as the development of transferable skills that will help generate interesting job prospects in the television, cinema, and other related media sectors. It provides a complete review of technical and theoretical filmmaking expertise. Learners will be engaged in a variety of media and film pedagogies and will create high-quality material for the screen and media industries.
The program prepares students to work in media-related businesses and trains them to critically analyse how the media reflects, depicts, and impacts the world. It is designed to provide a thorough grasp of today’s best practices in the field through a combination of lectures, seminars, screenings, numerous experiential learning experiences and assessments, and one-on-one supervisions.
Modules
The module aims to explain the ways in which media products are determined and the conditions within which media professionals operate. Through this unit students will learn to appraise historical and contemporary analysis and debate in media audience research. Students will also be encouraged to assess theoretical and historical perspectives on the relationship between media and audiences.

The module delves in encouraging students to produce evidenced definitions of a range of theoretical concepts relevant to the study of popular television, which will help them understand the industry on a deeper level. The course focuses on application of appropriate theoretical concepts to the analysis of the relationship between popular narrative media and the society in which they are produced and consumed. It engages in close textual analysis applying the appropriate terminology relevant to the narrative text under examination.

- To consider the historical development and conceptual models which inform the close study of popular narrative texts.
- To critically examine the nature of popular television institutions, production, texts and reception.
The module defines, explains, and teaches application of the concepts related to Film Production Management. Students are expected to critically evaluate the role and value of art and commerce in the film and entertainment industry, monitor and interpret emerging entertainment news and trends, and formulate questions that reflect their interests and knowledge gaps to guide their learning. Through this module students will engage in intellectual discourse and knowledge building.
Learning Outcomes- Describe the sequence of events in planning for production of a film.
- Interpret a script through scheduling and budgeting.
- Distinguish the hiring and firing practices, day-to-day crew management and personnel problem solving specific to filmmaking and media management
- Compare the various basic contracts required for film production and formulate a production and execution plan for a film and media project
